Yeah, but that doesn't qualify as "sleep before I travel." That qualifies as "sleep before I eat dinner and play that gig." Guess it didn't scan as well.
Amazingly, I just found the original lines! Yes, folks, here were the original options:
I'd like to get some sleep before my dinner
But if you've got a warrant, I guess I'm gonna be thinner
I'd like to get some sleep before my soundcheck
But if you're got a warrant, I guess the sound will be "blech!"
Fortunately artistic license ultimately won out ...
